Wendy’s grantmaking and investing across the Schmidt family of organizations seeks to expand our knowledge and stewardship of our planet and its intricately connected systems. Her work supports communities worldwide to access clean energy, pursue agroecology and advance human health and human rights. She believes in the power of the network and invests in talent, supporting farmers, fishers, scientists, activists, journalists, inventors and entrepreneurs.

    The Schmidt Family Foundation makes grants and impact investments through two programs: the 11th Hour Project, which partners with communities around the world in working for renewable energy, resilient food systems, healthy oceans and the protection of human rights, and Schmidt Marine Technology Partners, which supports scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs in developing technologies that restore ocean health.

  • Agog: The Immersive Media Institute helps people use extended reality (XR) to create human connection, cultivate empathy and inspire action toward a brighter future for all. Agog brings together nonprofit leaders, thinkers, and creators to harness the power of emerging media like virtual and augmented reality to develop new ways to communicate, learn, inspire, and collaborate. Agog’s initial areas of focus include social justice and equity, high-impact storytelling and world-building, research, education and outreach, and policy and ethics.

    Schmidt Global Health strengthens public health systems globally by connecting clinical providers and researchers across a global network, identifying public health threats and coordinating response, using technology to enhance analysis of health data, and broadly communicating health findings. Schmidt Global Health evolved from the Schmidt Initiative for Long Covid, which was created by Eric and Wendy Schmidt in 2023.
